Exhibition Opening and Fashion Show on One Night: June 17, 2025, at Bodó Gallery

Pop icon of the ’90s, Előd Császár – known artistically as Shane 54 – is now conquering new ground: after his international DJ career, he has turned to visual art, creating an exciting and uniquely imaginative world with brushes, canvases, and cats. The former member of the band FLM now channels his energy and mindset within the frames of a gallery and his paintings.

Shane 54’s works hover between pop art and digital aesthetics, featuring vibrant colors and geometric shapes, with cats of all appearances taking center stage. These stylized animals, often depicted in humorous or thought-provoking scenes, form a distinct and recognizable visual universe.

Among the recurring characters is János, the iconic cat of Shane’s partner, who appears in several works. These cats feel, dress up, go to parties, take vacations – they inhabit a feline-constructed world while enjoying life. Human situations come to life on the canvas, such as in the painting titled “The Cats Went to a Concert, Got Lost, but Didn’t Get Sad.”

Cats have been featured in art since ancient times. They were often depicted in cheerful, playful scenes or revered as sacred creatures. In China, they were believed to guard holy texts. In contrast, during the Middle Ages, their negative traits were emphasized, and folklore held that a black cat crossing one’s path was a bad omen. In the modern era, cats were portrayed as obedient animals, graceful and elegant. And now? In Előd Császár’s paintings, cats receive a new interpretation: freed from all previous constraints, they appear as chic Parisian ladies or sunglass-wearing youth on their way to a party.

A unique highlight of the exhibition is that the artworks come alive not only on the walls but also on the runway: LOZAR’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, designed by Réka Schadi, translates the Shane 54 universe into fashion. As part of the brand’s Art and Fashion series, the pieces are simultaneously extravagant and bold – perfectly complementing the spirit of the exhibition. The cats enter the gallery and parade among the paintings that depict them.

Opening date and venue:
